New, but not
Although they've been performing musicians and friends for years, guitarists Wayne Gerard & Sean Blackman just formed Sin Hielo in 2011 and since then the band has been on fast-forward. As soon as Sin Hielo was publicly announced, they began performing five days a week just in Detroit alone with often multiple performances each day.
Sin Hielo In the Studio
Sean & Wayne, masters at improvisation, began composing the playlist of their next CD while performing live in concert, building on new songs during each show.
Nightly shows are where they get their energy, but the days during most of 2012 have been dedicated to the studio. Sin Hielo chose the prestigious Studio A as its recording home. As the music world began to hear that Sean and Wayne were recording, other artists took interest and journalists including a reporter from The New York Times stopped in to hear the new sound in progress. Sean & Wayne invited several guest musicians for the self-titled CD including the unusual step of including a DJ and a Flamenco artist on several tracks.
Invited to New Mexico
Sin Hielo was invited to perform in New Mexico for Mercedes-Benz events throughout July so they will be taking a break from recording and all Detroit shows from July 16-27. Latin jazz vocalist Lola Morales of London will join them.
